about

James’ long-awaited return is one of the most glitzy, lyrically cohesive, and gloriously 80s as it gets. Moving further from his 2020 alternative indie debut with Bring Me The Horizon producer Al Groves ‘Dance in the Rain’, James returns with the 80s pop vibes. He received BBC Nottingham’s track of the week and got further coverage in Music News, Vents, and Fame. BBC presenter Dean Jackson described James as ‘a superstar in the making.’
The rising 23-year-old pop star extolled the power of pensive sadness juxtaposed with self- realisation in his boundlessly energetic and soul-bearing track, ‘Heartbreak High’. Burt’s fourth single continues that narrative but finds inspiration in something arguably even greater: love.
‘For me, musically and lyrically, Sing That Song resembles looking back at a pure moment’. Burt says ‘It’s about remembering a late-night drive when you’re singing in the car and you look over to the person next to you and everything is amazing.’ Burt explains his favourite lyric is ‘I love the sound of the way you sing that song’. He explains ‘It resembles loving every part of a person. Even if they’re not the best singer in the world, when they’re singing, they sound like the best singer to you.’
Burt is mastering his art of infectious pop. With a catchy chorus, Sing That Song is further proof that he is at the top of his game right now. The track is layered with compelling synths, 80s drums, and flavoured with efficacious lyrics. Sing That Song will be released on all major streaming platforms on April 8th.

lyrics

I've been counting all the days you've been gone
Guess you needed time alone with no one
But I'll stay strong
I'll smile like nothing's wrong

I can be the man you want me to be
Girl it's killing me why can't you see
I'm not that strong
I smile like nothing's wrong

Every time that I close my eyes
I think of you as you walk on by
I love the sound of the way you sing that song

We've got time to make it happen tonight
We can work this whole thing out if we try
I can't go on
And smile like nothing's wrong

I can take us to the end of the line
Through our memories and the stars in the sky
We must stay strong
The love was never gone

Every time that I close my eyes
I think of you as you walk on by
I love the sound of the way you sing that song

The sun sets on a velvet sky
I feel alone when you're on my mind
I love the sound of the way you sing that song

I'm missing the way you sing
And all of the joy you bring
I love the sound of the way you sing that song
I'm missing the way you sing that song
